John Hickman helped develop the Bücker version of this motorized tow bar which allows a Jungmann or Jungmeister to be moved on the ground with ease. A "standard" tailwheel tow bar typically doesn't work with these aircraft because of the location of the wheel.

John said: "I wish I could take credit for inventing the tow bar, but the credit goes to my friend and Bucker wanabe Bucker owner, Wheeler North. Wheeler is an RV4 and RV6 builder and pilot. He originally designed and built the basic tow bar for his RVs. All I did was admire his construction and suggested it may be useable on a Bucker, and that I would like to have one. My old body is getting to where it is a chore getting the Buckers in and out of the hangar! Wheeler quickly redesigned his tow bar for use on the Bucker and even welded up some frames. The San Diego Bucker Boys (Chris Overson, Dave Stillinger and I) then simply ordered the parts and built one up for ourselves. Wheeler has now even modified the design for a Sky Bolt. Wheeler is a great friend of the Bucker Boys and a real-life genius. He is a whiz at making parts for us on his lathe, mini-mill and laser cutter. I am sure Wheeler would be honored to see his tow bar be copied and used by all Bucker owners. It works great!!! "

Jeff Moir has kindly put together some photographs, John's drawings and a parts list which will allow you to build one too.

The drawings and parts list may be downloaded from here:
